Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who sings on the reimagining of a folk song called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the song's powerful central theme.

“The song holds a profound significance for a lot of people,” Barghouti shared. “The essence is that I would prefer a dignified death than exist without freedom. That is the core idea of the song; we desire to exist a dignified life that we deserve as Palestinians.”

The organizers behind the campaign have clarified that their goal is to raise as much as possible for a dedicated fund. These donations will be channeled to initiatives supporting Palestinians through an partnering humanitarian organization.

“We don’t have a specific target,” a representative explained. “We’ll go for as much as possible. Obviously, the more the merrier. Every penny goes out to those in need in Gaza.”

The context in the territory was noted for its extreme devastation, with a vast majority of infrastructure said to be levelled or seriously harmed.

“In that context, a couple of million won't make that much difference. But I think what truly matters is primarily making this cause better known and showing there’s another side to the story.”

The track is scheduled for release this Friday. Additionally, a full recording of the charity concert will be made accessible to view on a popular streaming site from the 19th of December.
