Soccer Analyst Sutton Battles Artist Olly Murs in Top Flight Predictions

Arsenal's ten-match winning streak was ended by Sunderland prior to the international hiatus, but can the English top division frontrunners bounce back against local foes Spurs this Sunday?

"{I feel like Arsenal are light years ahead of Tottenham currently but Spurs boss Thomas Frank will have a plan for this match," remarked soccer specialist Chris Sutton.

"Frank will try to nullify Arsenal, who have not always been at their scintillating finest this season - but Mikel Arteta's team typically still find a way to win."

The analyst is forecasting results for all 380 Premier League fixtures this season, against artificial intelligence, fans and a variety of guests.

For week 12, he faces performer Olly Murs, who is a Manchester United fan.

Murs' new record, the new release, is out on Friday.

Soccer and Family Experiences

Murs is a talented footballer as well as a successful singer and has been a star of several Soccer Aid games over time - but he is not intending a professional comeback as a footballer.

"{I actually played in a benefit match the other night for a friend of mine," he said. "My side was losing 3-1 when I was substituted in the second half, and they went on to win 4-3, so you can interpret that what you will!

"I continue to love football, but I injured my joint a few years ago and it still isn't where I want it to be. I hope I could play more but the uncertainty of the sport means it's too dangerous for me in my profession to do it properly again.

"Additionally I am forty-one now, and we are not everyone is Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very happy not playing football and I am preparing for the time that my child or son decides to play instead."

Murs and his wife his partner have a young family, Madison and their son, and he is ready to emulate his dad by taking on the role of their coach.

"I will not force football on our kids but I've already told my wife that if they do get the bug for it then I will have to go and get my coaching badges - and I will likely be managing their weekend football team," he added.

"I watched my relatives play a lot, and I really got into it, and I clearly was involved with a football club for a period too.

"My father coached with us when I was a child, which is likely where I inherited it. He coached our team for several seasons and had a wonderful time with it. That might be the future for me as well, and I am excited to it!"

Top Division Forecasts

Weekend, 22 November

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

The Blues may have to wait a bit longer for Cole Palmer's return from fitness issues but their attack is now more potent with Joao Pedro and Delap both back fit.

In my opinion this fixture will be fairly tight, however. The Clarets are well organised and their sole home losses so far have been against the Reds and Arsenal.

It smells of a one-all draw to me, but I am actually going to choose the London side to win narrowly for what would be their third Premier League win in a row.

The expert's prediction: 1-2

Olly's pick: The Blues will be superior. 1-3

Artificial intelligence's prediction: 0-2

  • Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Cherries have been defeated in their previous couple matches - albeit both of them were away - but they got absolutely spanked by Aston Villa last time out which shocked me.

On the other hand, the Hammers won two in a row before the international break and, although both of those fixtures were at their stadium, they do look strong again.

The Hammers' sole on the road win this campaign came at Nottingham Forest in the summer, when West Ham manager Nuno Espirito Santo was still Forest manager.

So, what exactly do I go with here - can West Ham extending their streak under Nuno, or Bournemouth responding?

I am going to choose Bournemouth, because I believe what happened against Villa was a blip.

Sutton's prediction: 2-0

The guest's prediction: The home team are performing strongly but the visitors have improved under Nuno. 2-2

The algorithm's pick: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

Brentford were considered one of the favourites for relegation before the season began, but they have surprised a several people under Keith Andrews and are in fine fettle with three wins in their past four matches.

A family member told me to select Brentford forward Thiago in my Fantasy Football squad a few weeks back and, unfortunately, I didn't listen.

Thiago will probably score again on Saturday but I am still not going to select him or back the away side at Brighton's ground.

The Bees have not had great fortune on the travel this season, and Brighton are always strong at their stadium. The visitors will try to attack on the counter-attack but I think Fabian Hurzeler's side carry much more of a danger.

The analyst's forecast: 2-1

Olly's view: This could be a match where you expect there is going to be a lot of scores but it in reality proves to be quite close. 1-1

The computer's prediction: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

This is a huge fixture for Fulham, who have suffered defeat in five of their past six matches.

They have got plenty of talent in their squad but it still seems like they could be dragged into a relegation fight.

Regarding Sunderland, indeed they are the surprise package of the Premier League season so far.

Their display in the two-all draw with Arsenal last time out was excellent. We've not seen any other team rough up the North London side like that this season, and they were more than a match for them.

The sensible thing to do to support the visitors here, because they are clearly able of disrupting the hosts up too and, the previous occasion they were in west London, they beat the Blues at the close of October.

However I am not going to do that. Instead, I truly need to carry on going against Sunderland with my forecasts. I am claiming a lot of credit for their good outcomes because they clearly love to prove me wrong.

Considering Fulham's at Craven Cottage record, the only team they have lost to is the league leaders. Their manager's side will be absolutely desperate for a good outcome, so I am going to predict they will secure three points.

Sutton's forecast: 1-0

The guest's prediction: I know Sunderland are performing strongly and additionally that the hosts are on a poor run... but Fulham have nonetheless been respectable at home this season. 2-0

The algorithm's outlook: 2-0

  • Anfield, 15:00 GMT

It is a tough fixture to call. The Reds have suffered seven of their last ten matches in every tournament, but could they be among the teams who benefit from the {international break|
