19 of Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been earned on hard surfaces

A resurgent Medvedev claimed his initial championship for nearly 30 months with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament championship match.

Medvedev, a ex- number one, has experienced a torrid season, achieving just one match at the Grand Slams and experiencing a difficult moment at the US Open.

Medvedev's varied form on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serve in specific - resulted in him dropping out of the world's top 10 and finally separating with long-term trainer his previous coach.

Now working with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has consistently progressed in the last few weeks - culminating in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over challenger Moutet.

It is his initial championship after the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard court from spring of 2023.

The win also means the Russian has won 21 championships at twenty-one various competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a tournament with my two daughters at once, so to secure a championship is especially meaningful," said world number 14 the champion.

"This victory is in dedication of my second daughter her name, because the maiden victory I won when my child her name was born was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his past six championship matches, featuring in that event earlier this year.

His retrieving approach and regular reactions on court had prompted some to question if his skill to compete at the top level was concluded.

But the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the past month, striving to advance forward and compete positively, supported by an enhanced serve.

The champion came back from a disadvantage in the first set against the tricky opponent, securing 4 of the concluding five points to take the lead.

The pair exchanged service breaks in the following set before the challenger, bidding for his first ATP Tour victory, took control to create a third set.

The opponent saved four initial break points in a tight final set before Medvedev secured a break to 15 to serve for the match.

Suitably, the winner earned the title with a rally at the net area, with his opponent unable to control a shot after over two and a half hours.
