Arne Slot Insists He Is Safe and Has Liverpool's Support Following PSV Eindhoven Loss

Arne Slot acknowledged that it was understandable for concerns to be asked about his position following a further convincing loss versus PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds endured their ninth defeat in 12 games, marking the club's worst streak since being demoted in 1953-54.

They were dominated by the Dutch league title holders on a punishing evening at Anfield.

“I am feeling safe, things are alright, I have got a lot of backing from management,” Slot commented.

“It's important to turn it around and earn three points obviously but if you are working as a coach and not doing well then it is normal that questions are asked.”

He noted, “I am OK with my position. This isn't the first time I've found myself in a difficult position but it's crucial that we turned it around.”

Talks with Liverpool Hierarchy

Upon being questioned to elaborate on his dialogues with the team officials, Slot revealed:

“We communicate frequently. They assist to the team and to me and we discuss these matters but they don't phone me every single minute each day to say they trust me.”

He mentioned, “In the normal discussions I feel the trust. However I haven’t spoken to them since this match yet so we'll see.”

Recurring Issues and Player Response

The manager expressed regret over recurring shortcomings from his squad in their Champions League defeat, specifically poor finishing and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was more direct in his assessment of the team's situation.

“I don’t have the answers. Honestly, I don’t. I'm telling that to everyone,” the midfielder remarked.

“It’s just unacceptable. I don't have to wait to consider it. I'm beyond getting mad inside. I've reached the stage currently where I just don’t have the words.”

He added, “It's difficult because I play for the team I support. I’m a fan, and I’ve seen Liverpool all my life.”

“For many years, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team experiencing a phase such as this with outcomes this poor.”

Jones finished, “However we continue to wear that badge on our chest. And until it is gone, we will always compete.”

“We will attempt to help the side back to the top, demonstrate to all again the values of this club and the reason it's called the best team in the planet.”

“But right now, we’re in the shit and it must improve.”
